BC has some of the most stunning coastlines in the world. Small coves and inlets begging to be discovered, sheltered bays to weigh anchor and numerous yacht clubs and marinas to welcome you ashore.
If you are looking to enter the sport for the first time or if you want to find out about regattas and events in your area visit the BC Sailing Association website at www.bcsailing.bc.ca. They offer an excellent summer program where instructors take a trailer full of small dinghy’s around the province and offer camps to children at various locations.
Visit the yachting community online at www.pacificyachting.com where you will find the Boaters Blue Pages, classifieds, promotions and coupons as well as marina listings. You can also pick up a copy of the magazine at news stands.
The international directory for yacht charters at www.yachtcharters.com lists about 200 companies in BC offering varying types of yacht charter. One of our favorite sites www.coastalbc.com provides you with access to more links, magazines and some great personalized articles with photos and more.
For wind/kite surfing/surfing we again recommend a visit to www.coastalBC.com – they have everything from weather conditions to shops, BC made gear, lessons, the latest wind/kitesurfing news, classifieds and guides. Click here to view a nice video clip of someone surfing in Tofino.
The first information source for these activities is www.bccanoe.com – under their links page you can find a list of canoe clubs and they also list up-coming courses and events.
www.hellobc.com also offers a great guide to canoeing and kayaking whether it be on lake, sea or white water. Just click on their Things to Do tab and look under Water Activities.
The Sea Kayak Club of BC can be contacted at www.skabc.org and for something really special like whale watching in your sea kayak why not check out www.outforadventure.com?
